Beautiful incredibly colored completely natural (not colored) cabochon from a rare Spondylus shell originating in Ecuador.
Today, fishing for this shell is already strictly forbidden!
These shells have been used for centuries in ritual jewelry especially in Peru. The shells have a colored layer only at the surface and may have a purple, red or orange color. Mostly, only small pieces can be obtained - nicely colored, and so the basis of traditional Peruvian and Ecuadorian jewelery is the mosaic (most often in the combination of Spondylus, chrysocolla, sodalite and white mother-of-pearl). they form the basis of solitaire jewelry.
The most beautiful are all colors together.
Stone height approx. 4 mm.
